We’re searching for an individual who is enthusiastic about working on high-scale geo-distributed services. These services are the backbone of Office web applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Visio, all integral parts of the Office 365 suite. In this role, you’ll play a crucial part in designing, constructing, and maintaining these services, with a focus on monitoring, scalability, and reliability. We’re gearing up to modernize our infrastructure and services to further push the limits of scalability and reliability. Job Responsibilities:
- Ownership: Take complete ownership of feature development, covering all aspects from design and architecture to implementation, testing, debugging, shipping, and participating in production on-call rotation.
- Collaboration: Collaborate closely with other team members to shape the service infrastructure and product, fostering an agile, innovative, team-oriented, and customer-focused culture.
- Learning and Innovation: Showcase your ability to quickly learn, work independently, and collaborate effectively with others. Contribute to team-wide fundamentals and infrastructure improvements.
- Technology Exploration: Investigate and prototype new technologies and frameworks, keeping the team at the cutting edge of development.
- Testing and Quality: Develop and maintain unit tests and automated integration tests to ensure the highest quality standards.
- Qualifications: Basic Qualifications:
- Coding Skills: Minimum 5+ years of experience with exceptional coding skills in at least one object-oriented programming language, such as C#, C++/C, or Java.
Additional Qualifications:
- Web Services: Over 2 years of experience in developing web services and managing production-grade services.
- Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Testing and Debugging: Strong debugging, testing/validation, and analytics/telemetry skills.
- Collaboration: Outstanding cross-discipline and cross-group collaboration skills.
- Customer-Centric: Deep passion for customers, design thinking, data analysis, and technology.
- Troubleshooting: Proficiency in debugging and diagnosing service issues.
Scaling: Expertise in problem-solving and analyzing/diagnosing service health issues at a global scale is a plus. - DevOps: Experience in a DevOps culture supporting a live site is a plus.
- Azure and .Net: Experience with Azure Infrastructure and in .Net is an added plus.
- Product Delivery: Demonstrated experience in shipping high-quality products is a plus.
- Education: A Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in computer science, engineering, or an equivalent field.
